I loved your pictures. I lived in Bombay (now Mumbai) for two years when I was very young. We stayed at the Taj Mahal Hotel until our things arrived. Then we lived in a compound in Trombay. We attended Green Lawns School, which I believe was on Worli Sea Face. We had a young Indian lady (16 years old) who lived with us. I only know that her name was Alice. She and my mother wrote back and forth for years after we moved back to the States, but after she got married, she no longer wrote. I have wondered many times where she is. I came across your pictures quite by accident, but I recognized many of the places, even though it has been forty years since I was there. Thank you for a wonderful trip down memory lane.

Ramona !
you have succeeded not only in offering viewers a highly personal picture of everyday life in Bombay and Poona but accomplished this with a sense of exuberance and delicate grace that shines through in all your work.

I am truly overwhelmed by your gracious inclusion of a link to my 'Virtual Poona' group. It was an early Christmas 2002 gift !

Of course I shall be a frequent visitor here and hopefully can return the favor shortly. Till then, Happy Holidays and a fabulous New Year to you and the family!

Hello Ramona and Noel,

It was a great trip down memory lane, our emotional battery has been recharged...what with all the mouth-watering fare from the various kitchens! Before we forget, we'd love to give Deepak a 'courtesy call' when next in Bombay ..... the Gujarati food looked truly truly 'awesome'! Mama Kay's food too looked sooooo good and the 'appams' at the Amin's place - wish we could have all been at all these places with you guys!

The photographs were so clear and very well taken!

Thanks again for caring to share all these moments with us!

Bye now!

We thoroughly enjoyed 'revisiting' the many memories your pictures brought us. Please let me know how we might be invited to Sandy's and Ramiaha's place for that great Mangalorean banquet!!! We can imagine the great time you had. It was indeed a great pleasure to see Enoch, Grace and Mama Kay so cheerful. 'Thanks for the memories' to quote Bob Hope.
