Here is the kind man who allowed us into the Theatre. We were there for nearly 45 minutes, while he showed us around, and explained his involvement with the restoration process. I wish I would remember his name .. simply because he made a great impression on our minds. It is very rare to meet someone who dares to follow his dreams, and he was certainly one of them. A poet, painter, cook, writer, seaman, fisherman, auto-mechanic, he seemed to revel in doing exactly what his heart summoned him to do. His wife was a professor in the University, so he would make use of the library there to pursue his current passion in literature, in his words - "the good, not bad .." He spoke Portuguese, Italian, French (he lived in France for a long while), English and Spanish. He had moved back to Nazaré, and was now involved in the restoration of this theatre, for which he had a special attachment to. With good humour, he told us he earns about 45000$00 escudos, of which he spend 40000$00 on cigarettes, food and beer. God bless him!
