Easter Monday saw us leave Braga bright and early in the morning, with full intentions of reaching Lamego within 3 hours. This we calculated roughly based on what our Michelin road map told us. What we thought was a fairly short jaunt, was marred by a couple of wrong turns, and detours which led us through deeply winding mountainous roads and the cities of Guimarães, Fafe & Felgueiras, and after 3 hours we decided to cut our journey short at Amarante.
Across the Ponte de Sao Goncalo (bridge), churches and spires seem to grow out of the red tiled roofs. You can see the Praça de Republica, the small village square where the cars are parked.
