On closer inspection, we found they were stalls selling 'Farturas' (or fried bread) - deep-fried dough sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon, or filled with a variety of sweet fillings - raspberry cream, chocolate cream etc. No we didn't sample them, this sugar and fat binge was killing us.
