Charged with the wonderful views that we'd seen, we
stopped at the next village, Ericiera.
It was close to 3:00 p.m. and we were hungry for some sea-food. A
nondescript restaurant with some friendly waitresses attracted our
attention. We found ourselves the Restaurante Os Arquinhos, in a
medium sized room, bright, clean and not very fancy. The tables near the
windows were occupied by locals who seemed to eating fish that looked real
good. (They were eating cod, of course - Cozido de Bacalhau,
steamed cod with chickpeas and boiled potatoes, drizzled with olive oil
and vinegar). At each table was a carafe of red wine, in addition to a
tall glass of beer. This was to be our very best meal in Portugal! |
