Exiting the castle, we walked down to the city center,
via small alleyways in Alfama.
Not knowing how far we would need to walk before we reached the bottom of
the hill, we hopped aboard the #28 tram. A more than friendly gentleman,
assuming I understood his language perfectly, decided to be our guide, and
instructed us (as I surmised) to carry on journeying in the tram onwards
to the Chiado district. On an adventurous whim, we decided to
follow his directions and our instinct, and soon we were headed past
familiar sights into the unknown. |
