Sitio has long been a pilgrimage site since the 17th century. This is the statue of Our Lady of Nazaré which was found here centuries ago, and was the reason behind many miracles. The statue is housed just below the Memory Hermitage, where Vasco Da Gama prayed before he left for his voyages.
