Outside the Memory Hermitage is a broad look-out point.
A few shops and restaurants dot this area. The shops had earthenware
pottery, shawls, huge aprons, exquisitely embroidered linens, sweaters,
fishermen's flannel shirts, miniature ships and lighthouse and much more.
But it here that we saw ladies selling 'percebes' or boiled
barnacles on the sidewalk - it was really strange to see these
ugly-looking creatures, piled in mounds in wicker baskets, but here they
are considered as munchies with your beer. |
