The hotel we were to stay in for the next 2 nights was the Pensão Calatrava, a small-sized decent hotel with clean, but very dimly lit rooms. There is much construction activity in Viana, and our initial reaction to the place was one of misgivings. But once we set off on foot to explore the town, those feelings were quickly dissipated.
