Having parked our luggage in our little attic room in the inn, we emerged in the afternoon sun, to explore the village. The Sao Gonçalo church, a minutes walk away surprised us with a delightful  interior. It had columns with twisted ropes, angels and cherubs gilded in gold and two smallish chambers flanking the altar, which you can see in the picture, with the one on the left housing the statue of Sao Gonçalo.
